CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (CPD)

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is a lifelong learning process designed to develop and enhance the competency of individuals widely used by professional bodies worldwide for specific and targeted professional development.
1.

The University Management, through a meeting of the Competency Assessment Panel on 20 March 2009, has agreed that the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme is to be implemented in order to sustain, expand and enhance the competency and professionalism of individuals based on the needs of the staff and the direction of the organisation.

2. The Human Resource Development Division is given the responsibility and authority to manage the implementation of the CPD programme, by virtue of the Competency Assessment Board Meeting No.1/2010, which convened on 7 May 2010.
3. On 7 May 2010, the CPD module is developed in the Human Resource Information System (SMSM) with solid cooperation from the committee, the Computer Centre, and UTeM staff.
4. Within eight (8) years of its implementation, the programme has seen positive good impacts in promoting and encouraging staff to pursue their personal development. Comparisons made between 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 showed a percentage increase in staff achievements that met the pre-set of 42 CPD points i.e. 28.93% (2010), 46.10% (2011), 50.6% (2012), 54.9% (2013), 63% (2014), 66% (2015), 86% (2016) and 89% (2015).
5. In 2016, the University agreed that CPD points were calculated based on double points per component.  It was issued through the Administrative Circular No. 2/2016 - The Postponement of the Enforcement of The Implementation of The Seven Days Course A Year Policy for Public Service Personnel issued by the Director-General of Public Service (KPPA).
6.
